Just noticed a leak on the back of the diff on my 208 CLK320 it is smack in the middle at the very back, cleaned the diff off and left for a half an hour and there is a line of oil again in the same place.

Anyone know or experienced the same problem.

Pinion oil seal maybe? There are 3 seals - o/s and n/s driveshafts and the pinion seal (flange that bolts onto prop shaft). It's usually fairly obvious which one has gone. This is a specialist job (good indie required) especially if the pinion seal needs replacing. It's probably a good idea to have all 3 replaced whilst they have it apart.

Almost certainly pinion seal, however a blocked breather can cause back pressure and some weeping. Not really a DIY job as bearing preload is critical so I would get it checked out by a good indie.
