Hi guys, can't edit my original wanted thread.

I'm after a w208 55 or a w210 55. E55 would have to be a facelift model.

I'd only consider either car in a darker colour ie not silver. Must have minimal rust ie one or two blisters max.

Budget 5k-ish.

Cheers

No one have a black or blue clk/e-55?

Doesn't need to be mint as long as the price reflects it.

Why not pay less for one that needs a bit of work? I dont think there are many about let alone minters...

Sorry I should correct that, i don't mind if it needs cosmetic attention, even a full respray as long as the price reflects that.

If the price is right ill consider any clk55 that's not silver.

I don't want anything with shoddy mechanics though as i need the car to run well for daily use.

Johneboy, I think that ones sold.

My preference is in the following order

1)Clk55 in a dark colour
2)Clk55 in silver or e55 in a dark colour

Thanks guys, ill just wait until something comes along.

When I was looking for mine, I kept on top of the usual Piston Heads / Autotrader / Gumtree (and of course on here) sites.

In the end, I had the AT query come up in my Internet address bar when I started typing www.autotrader... that I could just select it without having to do all the drop downs each time.

If you study it religiously, hopefully you will be able to jump on it sharpish...

I have the search saved on the app permantently. I check it every few hours lol.

Even my dads gotten sick of me talking about em and so he's looking too lol. Bless him be tried talkin me into another clk430!

Thanks for that bud.

There's a nice 03 w208 clk55 in black for sale on AT with 100k being sold by a trader but it has no damn history or I'd have snapped It up.

If you ring merc customer services they may tell you about sh, my Cl had no history (and price to reflect), but when I spoke to Mercedes it actualy had fmsh up untill around 4k miles before I took it!

Nah the trader says he sold it to the second owner years ago who had a collection of cars that were serviced by his own mechanic hence no history.

Fair play may be true but it significantly devalues the car IMO. With 0 history it's not worth more then 3.5 in good nick IMO.

As above - an '03 plate car should have most of the early history at least on computer - I have MB records that show everything that was ever done to my CLK55 including recall work, parts used etc - better than just a stamped book :thumb:

You can also look up MOT history back to the early-mid 00s - which should verify mileage, and show advisory/failure items.

Being honest, I wasn't all that keen on Silver when I bought my '55 - I always liked black/darker colours - but I wouldn't change mine at all, silver really suits the 208 shape, looks fresh and sharp - and contrasts well with the Avantgarde glass and the dark leather trim

Was just thinking the other day - the CLK55 is the longest I've ever owned a car for - must say something about them, it's been a real grower - a great long term car :)

Yea Mercedes will also provide you with a duplicate stamped service book and print outs of any work done... You may be surprised, if the previous owner had several cars, he may not have done many miles in it...

Actually I just remembered I had exactly the same problem with a clk200 I acquired, no history at all (ex bt fleet car thing with no other owners) and almost 200k on the clock... Turned out it had history up untill around 180/190k ish with Mercedes!

Bloody hell! Lots of replies, cheers guys.

I dunno, I just feel as though I'd really be in for a loss come resale time even if I paid 4.5k for it with no history. As enthusiasts we may buy on condition but these cars are hard enough to sell with fully stamped books etc.

Balls, I'm going to view it tomorrow. If its as 'mint' as he says ill make him an offer.

I would try and be patient.

I looked at loads and almost bought an 8 owner car in desperation only a few weeks before I finally got mine.

Damn yours is nice! Fancy selling? Pm me a price lol if you do.

Will also consider a w209 clk500. Budget around 5k though so not sure what's about at that price.

be patient , just keep looking, ebay, pistonheads , autotrader, daily.

they do come up. but they do also go quickly, so move on them quick when you see them.
