CLS (in)stability at speed

Before anyone gets overly anti MB the OP has put none spec tyres on the car

I've owned my car since 5mths/5K miles and the originally fitted Bridgestone Turanza's weren't marked as MO. I've replaced them all with non-MO Michelin Primacy HP's. Car wobbles just the same.

I've said this on a few posts now but the fix that worked on many handling issues for my W124 (Apoligies for the archaic addition :D) was the fitment of a new steering damper.

I don't know if there is a check for this part but it was cheap and easy to fit.

Dave!

Before anyone gets overly anti MB the OP has put none spec tyres on the car and from my limited experience of driving a CLS55 for 2 years, occasional drive of a CLS320 and CLS350CGi the diesel car had pirellis and was horrible, the other two (mine especially) has MO Contis.

I would first put it on star and if NFF change the tyres to the ones MB designed the car to use

And yet, I've driven many BMWs, Audis, Volvos etc all without MO tyres and had no problems. My E class hasn't had MO tyres in the time I've owned it, and when I complained about steering feel they didn't even blink at the tyres.

Michelin MXV4's are the best... although the new Primacy have a harder rubber tread for longer wear, they are noisier.

If your car has low profile, then the Michelin Pilot AS are the way to go! :bannana:

Could this be something?

MB Recall on CL, SL and S class due to faulty ABS acceleration sensors

OP Says its "rocking from side to side" could be tramlining, it it does it less in the right lane than middle or centre then its a given - isnt it ?

Pirellis on a CLS320 seemed to make the car understeer or feel understeery in normal driving and made me want to not drive it (was a loaner), it was so horrid I made a point of seeing what tyres were on it.
