Hi all

I have a cls350 cgi which has just come up with the engine management light. Took it in to my local specialist today and the fault coming up is the right hand egr valve is jammed open.

Apparently these cars have 2 valves a left and a right and you can only buy them in a set of 2 from Mercedes at a cost of £1600 for the pair

This is coming in at over £2000 fitted for an egg valve. Can anybody help with my options here, is it possible to remove it and try cleaning it? Seems impossible to find one at a breakers as they are specific to the cgi engines and there aren't many about. £2k for a repair on this car almost seems not worth it...

Does anyone know the location of this valve on the car?

Thanks in advance for any help

find the valves and de coke them with oven cleaner, clean them, reinstall. should get them back,

Can anyone help with the valve locations? Or any ideas how to try and find them? Any lines to follow etc?

Anyone have any ideas on this? I'm really stuck now, went to dealer for more info on the part and it's apparently sold as a big unit which has 2 valves on it?! Anyone know if an egr delete is possible on these?

Any recommendations for a specialist in the West Midlands as car is currently there

If possible if be tempted to delete and blank them. Worst case scenario is your feeding your engine cooler, cleaner air with a higher 02 count.

Hello, how did you solve this? I got the same problem on my CLS 350 CGI 2008 two days ago. The check engine light was on and car lost more than half of its power. The next day it drove normally with check engine still on. In the afternoon I started without check engine.

STAR diagnostic showed jammed EGR valve as the saved problem. My mechanic told me it shoud be OK and if the problem returned it should be enough to clean the EGR.

I wouldnt recomend deleting the EGR. Here in Czech Republic it would mean no pass on emission tests :-(

Hi, if you have not relved this, it can be a real pain locating an EGR valve (new). I managed to locate a company that sells tem at a very reasonable price. Please check:
ZAWÓR EGR MERCEDES C W204 C350CGI E W212 S212 W211 S211 C207 - BOX-MOTO // CZ??CI SAMOCHODOWE // +48 662651009 | +48 662653033 // ul.CHORZOWSKA 29/1 41-79 Ruda ?l?ska

I am from Malaysia, so I had to ask a friend of mine (Polish) to get this for me.
I hope it works for you. All the best.
