This weekend I was in Wales on a tour with the excellent Petrolhead Nirvana. 15 cars including three AMGs (mine plus two C63s), two days and approximately 400 miles of beautiful roads.

The CLS proved to be an excellent car for the trip with massive performance, brilliant brakes and surprisingly (as commented upon by others present) handling. That said it was hard not to notice the weight especially with a big lump like me added to it which made for some rather life affirming moments in some of the tighter sections. All in all though it felt absolutely great and to top it all of off the car was awarded "best sounding car on tour" for the weekend :)

Here's three minutes of the sound in question, for those who are interested it's a 2014 Shooting Brake with Rado downpipes from Eurocharged and Rebellion Automotive's iTuning kit.

Robin,

That sounds the business and the gopro footage is really good. You must be really pleased and to beat a 458 to the best sound award.

I will be getting the Rado treatment on Thursday and I hope it sounds as good as yours. Not sure if you have had a mail yet but there are a couple of other goodies in the pipeline.

Speak soon and again what a sound ;-)

Hello there,

You'll love it :) It seems to get better with time and the higher octane the fuel the better the pops and bangs. All told I am really pleased with the combination of the two mods.

Got your message - i'm intrigued and keen to find out more.

Have you turned the box up yet? You should be able to run at 7 once you have the pipes on or so I am told with. I will dyno it with star on hand just incase and let you know how it goes.

I will PM you some other info.

Yes please would be keen to find out the results.

I haven't got it turned all the way up yet but I suppose I ought to be thinking about it :)

One extra point of note, this weekend was the first time I had run the car on 99Ron tesco momentum and it had a marked (positive !) impact on the popping and banging.

Love it - Subaru dispatching is such fun. I like the bend straightening too.

Where was the camera mounted?

Hello

Camera was attached using a GoPro suction cup to the rear bumper with a tether to the boot hook for a little extra security.

The chap in the Subaru was a little shocked I think as ahead of me were two 911s and an Exige which also dispatched him in similar fashion :)
