code reader from ebay

hi all ,are these any good, havent got any issues at the moment but was thinking could save me time and money in the future

That's a lot of money for something that you can build yourself for a tenner.

I bought the U581 (iirc £70) from e bay with an adaptor lead (iirc £10) to fit the older mercs (mine) with the 38pin test socket, its pretty good also standalone and works on every car i have tried it on so far.

A cheapo code reader just gives you codes whereas this and many others like it give live info ie coolant temps, oxygen sensor o2 readings, mass air flow readings etc etc.

Ps i blew the first one up, my fault not the machines

PPS i had a different machine for my old landrover TD5 and that saved me a fortune as each visit to the dealer is going to cost you £80 to £100, one visit and its then free
