Cold draught from beside driver's seat

Hi all,
I'm really enjoying my 'new' Merc, now that the firing on three cylinders has been sorted, just one thing is spoiling it now. I have a cold draught coming from a specific point beside the driver's seat. I've tried the all the variations of heater settings and vent positions, but to no avail. It's roughly beside the front edge of the seat, and if I move my hand six inches in front of it and behind it, it's effect disappears. Is there possibly an inspection grommet or something similar in this area that might be missing please? I know it might seem only a small thing, but at this time of year it's not pleasant.

Check to see if the door car has been removed at some point in its life, it sounds like the protective plastic covering on the door may have become detatched or damaged in some way. I used to get a real cold draught coming from area on a previous car because of someone had cut the inner lining . once repaired and the door card was properly refitted the draught went away.

Hi there,
Many thanks for your rapid reply. It's made me realise that I didn't make myself clear enough - sorry. The draught is coming from under the carpet on the floor, and not the door.

Why not lift the carpet and have a look whats going on down there?

Hi Spike,
Firstly, I assume that would require removing some retaining pieces? And secondly, I'm partially disabled at the moment, and even the simplest jobs that I wouldn't have thought twice about a few years ago, are outside my scope at present. The car is still under warranty and I'll probably take it back to the dealer's, but I'd have liked to have been armed with a likely explanation before I do that.

Tut. I thought this thread was going to be about a new re-fridgerated pub pump which can be fitted in the boot of a car to supply cold ones to the driver...

Not sure law enforcement would endorse it though!

Just want to eliminate the obvious. Is it a convertible?
Hi there,
Sorry for delayed reply, but no, it's a standard saloon.
