Thanks to advice from Attilla in Hungary and OAKWOOD GATE GARAGE in Warrington Cheshire, my problems have been resolved. It seems that, looking through various threads, COLD START PROBLEMS on older Mercs are quite common. Attilla advised me to consult a Bosche Service Centre. They do a full diagnosis and DO NOT STOP until they have itentified the faul. They do this for a fixed fee (well, the one I used did). For anyone in the NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND, I took mine to OAKWOOD GATE GARAGE in WARRINGTON, 01925 815090. They did a great job. I could have spent a fortune elsewhere looking for the fault, but these guys have the equipment to get straight to the root of the problem. They then did the repairs for a resonable cost. I hope that some of you might find this useful.

I am now back in love with my 190 and not thrashing it every morning, as per Basil Faulty/Austin 1100.
Regards to all, Richard.
