Hi I have a cold starting problem on my 107 280sl. It is LPG converted (which I'm thinking of removing) it is not starting from cold in petrol mode, but will fire up after a few cranks in LPG but not run. Are there any common issues surrounding this, obviously without having a detailed diagnosis. The guy I bought the car from stated it was to do with the vacuum pipes but I'm not convinced. Plus any decent mobile/merc specialists in the north east?

Regards

Try switching back to petrol for a mile or so before you turn it off at night so that the petrol injectors have a chance to be active and the pump primed. It may also be that the cold start injector has failed. (for whatever reason). If it still won't start on petrol then ridding it of the LPG wont help as there is an inherent fault with the petrol system.

A note of caution...if you do start it from cold on LPG don't give it any throttle until it is warmed up otherwise you run the risk of a manifold backfire which can sometimes do untold damage.

Do you know where the cold start injector is located?
