hi there everyone :D

I have a quick question for you COMAND doctors out there...

A friend of mine had his ML270 broken into, and basically the little scrotes tried to take the COMAND unit out, but ended up smashing the fascia of it to bits.

The screen is damaged, and the bezel broken and scuffed, with some of the buttons broken. Doesn't want to go down the insurance route as he already has enough claims on the ML and his S320

So... to cut a long story short, we found a dead A210 model Sat Nav Unit, but it was found it was not the fascia where the problem was but with the units are the rear (the main board??)

Anyway, at £100 it can't be bad, what we need to know, will the fascia off the A210 work okay with the A163 back units from the ML?

We are told it will swap directly (the whole front panel, screen, buttons, etc which all comes off together) onto the A163 unit.

Hope somebody can help! Thanks guys!

almost definitely.

Yes it should work, exactly the same thing happened to my ML 270 a few weeks ago,

I purchased a new replacement facia from Steve at MBenzNL for around 200 Euro's. Just unscrewed the old one and replaced it with no probs.

The only problem I still have is the backlight for the buttons don't light up, I'm told it's somthing inside the unit and not the Facia. (Unless anyone knows any better...??)

I'm about to send the whole unit over to Steve to see if he can work his Magic on it.

Cheers

Martin
