COMAND 2.0 head unit for W163 on ebay

I bought a Comand unit from this seller a fortnight ago, for the very reasonable price of US$610 + shipping. His ebay ID says he's in the USA, but he's really in Riga, Latvia. I imagine he thinks he can get more sales that way.

Anyway, I am more than satisfied with my Comand unit. I bid on Tuesday afternoon - the unit arrived in Australia on Friday!! Unbelievable!! He ships via DHL.

If you've been thinking about upgrading your instrument panel, now is as good a time as any.

Looks like a bargain if it works all okay.

What is the part number of the comand? It should be A163 820 36 89.

Looking at the listing, the guy says you need a code card to activate it, you dont. It should power up without requiring any security code.

Will these work in europe,I thought all their radio station frequencys were different to ours?

EDIT:Mind you looking at it again, It looks like a euro comand.Will this work in the states where its been advertised?

It would work in the states but weatherband would be unavailable and the AM tuning wouldnt work properly.

That's the correct part number, Alfie.

You are right about the security code. He generates these sales pitches with a lot of cutting-&-pasting, and not too much attention to accuracy.

It is a Euro comand, so it probably wouldn't function properly in the US. I gather they mainly use MCS nav units made by Alpine.

Latvia = stolen goods.

They advertise all over the place and dump their stock to anyone willing to pay.

When I was in Germany earlier this year everyone knew about these people and the fact that they dont seem to buy from the "usual channels".

If you are driven by price then consider the fact that you are driving demand for more stock .... which is shipped to a known address.

If everyone knows about them, maybe the police will catch up with them one day. This one's still in business after 7 years and 2000 satisfied customers.

Caveat emptor.
