Comand APS DVD Upgrade E Class W211

You might be annoyed at 3 upgrades in a year but we only collected the car on Sat and now find that our V2.1 should be a V4!!!
Now waiting for the sales manager to call me back!

Hi John,

All I can say is probably not a lot. I suspect the minor version code update indicates a small firmware fix in the head unit, but the only real way to find out is to buy one. I can only wonder if it has the toll road.

I'm going to wait though till I'm confirmed it has TMC.

I take your point entirely, and don't forget someone has already posted that there is now version 4.1!! Do not except anything less

I was in a similar position with version 2 and version 3, and got absolutely nowhere. With your example there is absolutely no excuse for version 2 being in the vehicle.

I must emphasis that I can only comment on the 211 DVD COMAND and version 3 was released in March, so there needs to be a lot of explaining in how come you have been given a version that was replaced in March of this year?

Ours isn't the 211 version, we have the integrated DVD drive, as we found when we put the DVD we got from ebay in it this morning! so the V4 is the one I am now demanding be sent to us. They don't make life easy with all these versions of Comand APS DVD by Harman Beker, you would think they would do 1 europe and 1 US but I guess this is Merc we are talking about and life is never easy when they get involved!

Anyone need a V4 for their 211?? £60, got it on a buy it now for £75 but little car didn't want to know!

Not sure this is helpful. I picked up my W211 from the factory last weekend 10/12/04. Car was built end of November. TMC worked in Germany fine but no a sausage in UK. CD/DVD player will take MP3 files (or so it says) and graphics and functionality outstanding compared to previous CD driven command. Handbook says TMC does not work in all countries.

This has indeed been discussed in great detail, we are now waiting for Mercedes-Benz UK to 'switch on' TMC for the DVD COMAND.

Car went into dealers yesterday and guess what. They did an other Comand update. Not sure what this was but effectively they had a list of about 10 updates to various software bits that needed doing including comand.

Been able to play Mp3 for months, I bought my own copy of the update disk in July for £17 when I heard this upgrade had been released (Got it before the dealers!).

So I have the update disk here at home.

Did you actually buy your car from this dealer? The upgrade has been out for many, many months and he should really have notified you and installed the upgrade for free. My memory is not too brilliant but April times seems to ring a bell???

Did get it from the dealer, and I suspect the latest batch of upgrades probably included this one. However when I heard about it I enquired and a mechanic said it would probably cost £40 for them to do it (i.e. labour!) I didnt mention it was one of there cars, hence the reason why I bought the disk for £17. I had a service a few weeks ago and there was a great list of upgrades/recalls that were to be done when the car came in for a service. But they did not have time in the day to do the whole lot so it went in yesterday. It was worth £17 because I have had loads of Mp3 fun since.

Best thing was I had a rattle which is not really bad but every time the car goes in they can not find it. So this time they arranged to have a mechanic go out with me. He had his head between the dash and windscreen on a bit of concrete road they use as it makes everything rattle, there are also speed ramps and this was the fun bit . His head wedged nicely, I hit a speed bump he seemed slightly shocked at this and not very coherent but he found the rattle and they fixed it

It won't work, we made that mistake the other way round, might have yourself a buyer though, have to wait till he who drives the big car gets back from hols tomorrow to check though! We re-sold on ebay, was a few months ago now!

Navigation DVD for a 2005 Class C Comand

I'm interested by the Navigation DVD (Version 4.0) for the new Class C Comand (Part Number B 67 82 33 86).

I also got an email from someone else on ebay who has a load of version 4.0's I am not sure which version but if people want this contact I am happy to pass it on. He mentioned about £35 including postage, may be worth a try.

Update: I just got an email back from the chap he has 3 copies of the CL (from 09/03), E (from 03/02), S (from 09/03), SL (from 07/04) and SLK (from 03/04) and would like to sell for £30 plus postage but you will need to talk to him they are original and still shrink wrapped. PM me if you want details.

The version 4.0 disc part number for the Smart, new A class(W169) (Next year in the UK), C (w203) and CLK (W209) only is B67823363.

The Version 4.1 disc part number for the E(W211), CLS (C219) , CL (C215), SL (R230), S (W220) and SLK(R171) is B67823369.

I recently got V4 and looking on the DVD and back of the case it says it is Version 4.0 B6 782 3369. It appears to work fine in my W211 with no discernable difference between it and v3.
