Have always just stuck a MP3 DVD in the comand unit itself and the almost 5GB gets me by.

I thought I would try the cd changer this morning as I thought it was mp3 CD compatible. It doesn't read any of my MP3 cds.

Do I have to do something special whilst writing the CDs?

Nawp - mine just reads my CD-Rs.

However, my experience of CD-Rs in cars since 1999 has taught me some players do better than others.

In this case, given your car probably has a similar drive to mine, it's a bit odd.

Assuming it plays pre-recorded discs (i.e. originals) fine, it could either be the unit doesn't like the brand you are using or the speed you recorded it at, or a combination. Modern writing software doesn't give you much control over that - but my DVD-Rs have been OK. I have had issues with DVD-R MP3 discs - but then I reduced the number of tracks in folders (maximum of a usual album full) and it has been largely OK.

I use Verbatim DVDs and was using Traxdata CD-Rs, then Philips CD-Rs I think. I always recorded at the slowest speed to ensure the disc was cut as well as it could be.

If not, unit might need a lense-cleaner disc running through it.

Thanks, maybe i'll try a lens cleaner.

If I burn a normal audio cd with the same software on my PC and using the same discs it works fine. But if I use the same files, software and CDs but try as MP3 it doesn't work.

I am using the slowest write speed possible as my last comand had serious issues with writeable CDs but at the slowest speed it kind of worked.

Must admit they are cheapo Tesco cds, i'll pick up a decent pack and a lens cleaner and see how I go.
