Has anybody cut and joined a GPS antennae cable?

Am I right in presuming the cable is like any other COAX cable and is easy to join? Solder and heatshrink?

Anybody know of a source for GPS splitters or connectors?

I suspect there are more than one type of connector, any idea what they are called and what they look like?

Jimmy, I bought my sat-nav second hand off eBay, and the previous owner had cut the antenna cable, removing a large chunk of it. Suited me, since I stuck the antenna under the dash top and only needed a short cable run too. The join is now covered in insulating tape, and I don't particularly want to pull it apart to answer the second part of your question. But part one: yes.

Thannks John, thats what I thought but I seem to remember hearing about a special splitter.

Would splicing 2 receiver cables into 1 Antennae cable affect the signal strength? Somebody must know?
