Guys I’m considering purchasing a used a class 2007-2009 for a bit of weekend fun. How many miles are too many on these 320cdi v6 engines? Am I being silly, are these things very costly to maintain? I had a 2002 one and loved it…

Are S classes a fun weekend car (and a diesel at that)??

I thought that was an SLK / SL or a convertible (or an AMG)
Even a Smart coupe

Other brands are of course available....

The OM642 v6 engine is very robust - just like the OM648 I6 that you would have had in your 2002 car. It is not really the number of miles as much as how well it has been maintained. The v6 is not quite as easy to maintain as the i6 and the oil cooler seals are a weak spot and it is right down in the bottom of the V - a right pita to get to so is a relatively expensive fix.
They are great cars - buy the best one that you can and get it inspected by an indi if you can.

Don’t forget big cities will not allow the car in without extra charges soon . Like the London ULEZ scheme .
The 2007-2009 cars , some will have dpf’s , some won’t . Maybe try and get one without one for one less problem ?

You say you've always liked them, get one then, simple's. 🙂👍
