Cooling Fan - electric C200

A couple of questions for the technical members about a year 2000, C200 (W202) with air conditioning.

1. Should the cooling fan operate when air conditioning is turned on regardless of engine/water temperature?
2. What is the simpliest method of checking the fan, e.g. shorting out the temperature sender, without doing any damage to the electronics?

fan on all the time yes and if any problems check fan control relay under lt hand wheel arch £105 and 15 mins to fit
