Could this be one of the first SBC casualties?

I noticed that E55 earlier myself.

For what seems a very honest listing, I've got a strong suspicion that the 'brake' light is the SBC unit that needs replacing which, without a dealer contribution, will be about £1600.

Surely must be more to it than that, I would have thought you would get £8500 for it if it was advertised with SBC replaced?

Part Ex price around £6500 without the fault, so probs around £7.5k for private sale, but high mileage and lack of early history will put people off.

Why only 12 spark plugs?

With the miles and the potential £2k bill it needs to be £3995 really.

I asked the seller via ebay whether the SBC had been changed and his reply was "I've no idea, sorry".

There are at least 3 number plates featured in the advert - and a picture with boot spoiler and one without.

Bit peculiar...

I see two different number plates...where's the third? The spoiler is strange.

A W211 E55 has just been listed on eBay for £5,999, it looks a genuine sale as well.

I'm thinking it is the same car. One of the photos is older. Before the private plate...

But it is suspicious, and something to be wary of. Let's hope he doesn't see this thread...!

maybe the spoiler was added later and the pics are from when he first got the car!

still a cheap motor! 2nd hand SBC unit and ur good to go!

Another strange thing. I used the "Ask seller a question" link at the bottom of the EBay advert and it's still showing as 'No questions or answers have been posted about this item'. :dk:

You need Star to remove the SBC unit and Star to fit it, a refurbed unit is/was about £600 and that doesn't include removing or refitting it.

The seller can choose if it the answer is publicised on the listing or not.

First two were in the pictures (one you could clearly see and one with the close-up of the boot lid which was different) and the third one (N4PYR) was in the description.

How strange.

Did I imagine it? Am I going nuts? Or has it got something to do with this:

The seller has revised the following item information:
Date Time Revised Information
28-Oct-12 16:57:16 GMT Gallery Picture URL: Pictures Added/Deleted
28-Oct-12 16:57:16 GMT Pre-Filled Item Information Removed

I imagine the seller might be aware of this thread - perhaps he can clarify...

Yep. I think so. That's why I said that. He has seen the thread and altered the advert. Sounds a bit dodgy to me. And I will now change my mind and say - avoid like the plague...!

Definitely knows more than he is letting on in the advert.
