hi

thinking about retrofitting "blinking" mirrors to my pre-facelift CLK...

however i dont have the funds to get both front wings welded and resprayed.

so what i thought was maybe putting a badge or some stylish duct over the old indicator hole...

do u reckon this:

would fit over the hole without it showing?

any other ideas?

Its an interesting thought . . . but don't think anybody here has tried it - and don't think a badge would look great in that position - well not on my car anyway !

You could certainly try using photoshop to see what it would look like, but I'm not convinced !!

Alternatively - leave your repeaters on like I have, with the blinking mirrors. Better idea if you ever decide to take them off and return the car to normal, and they are really not as obvious on a silver car as with darker colours anyway.

my car is blue though (i know i have a strange username! lol)

what about something like this covering the hole?

I think you should sleep on it (as they say).

Or to put it another way - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  Don't do it.

How about just taking the bulbs out? It's a nice car as it is actually

The facelift A-Class still has a wholes and uses badges with 'Classic' 'Avantgarde' etc to fill them in. perhaps you could use them?

Otherwise get 2 new wings, they are only about £50ish per side

Yeah - the new A comes in elegance . . . although don't think the repeaters on the 'A' are the same size / shape as the CLK. Although if they are larger, then you might just be in with a chance !! The A Class ones are Oval shaped, and look relatively large.

Have the holes welded up and painted over, like I did. Koolvin has just done the same thing, it looks perfect and it's not too expensive. Any bodyshop than can do accident repairs can do it, it's what they do best.

I think I paid about £150 to get some door mirrors painted and have the wings welded up and repainted, they feathered the paint and clear so the wings didn't look like a different colour to the bonnet, the doors or the bumper. That is what I'll do as soon as I get my mirrors swapped again, it's the ONLY way to do it IMHO :)

£50 per wing?

how much for fitting and how much for painting?

thx

Sasha

Cant you get wings from somewhere in eastern europe where they don't need side repeaters? or maybe just fit facelift wings on? :D

ive just had my wings welded up, much better imo!

I think Koolvin actually had European wings, that never had repeater holes fitted?

Well he told me they were lead filled. Either way it's the same thing, covering up the holes with a badge or a sticker seems silly when it's not too expensive to finish the job off perfectly :)
