Repairing damage on paintwork caused by my dribbling cavity paint on the recently replaced sills. First base coat went on well. Second crinkled. Can anyone advise what I did wrong please? Spraying base coat on the rubbed down 2 pack clear coat underling base coat.

I had a similar problem on the wife's B200, had a tin of spray paint mixed up at the local paint specialist, after the first coat looked ok so more coats applied, next day the paint had a crackle finish.
I put it down to reaction to the 2 pack, laquer and base coat mixed together. Will try old fashioned solid Halfords paint next time.

Could also be the first coat had not fully cured - was it cold when you applied it or was it done in a warm garage?

This would be my guess. In my experience you have a window to get a second coat on that's quite short, so that it degasses along with the first coat. If i miss the window i leave the first coat to fully cure- like a week. With wrinkle paint you purposefully spray a heavy-ish coat then let it skin, then spray a light coat which when it starts to cure contracts and causes the wrinke effect. Ive found especially with paints like hammerite that take a long time to fully cure you have to be super careful. Either leave literally a minute or so between coats or leave it for a good week.
