Crufts 2012

I'll watch out for you BTB, on the telly. Good luck!

Am I the only one who thinks it's a tad strange that they are allowing these dogs to win best of their breed and then vet checking them?

Why not check them before judging? Or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Re. the vet checks I think it's just down to numbers - they wouldn't have the time to do them all before judging. This scheme started on 1st March and was widely publicised so shouldn't have come as any surprise to competitors. It applies to all General and Group Championship shows ... it's not just for Crufts.

Well ... I survived :)

If you want to see any of the action, search YouTube on "crufts 2012 agility championships” - this will bring up the official videos.

There were two qualifying rounds during the day plus the final in the evening - each with 3 sizes of dog (small, medium, large). So there are various different videos (round 1, round 2, final), some showing just the winning run(s) in each event rather than the whole thing.

We came back on Sunday night and the SL never missed a beat - can't remember the last time I drove it in the dark :o

It REALLY needs a wash now, before the hosepipe ban comes in!

Glad it went well Bill. So Mrs B didn't compete. No children or dogs ? The SL must have thought it was on holiday, all those miles.

Mrs BTB wasn't competing there this year, kids & dogs were at home with a German friend staying at the moment. We were put up in the Hilton at the NEC - to my surprise they were actually allowing dogs in the rooms!

Did 440 miles in the SL (there & back twice) ... after such a huge distance it's getting a service on Friday :D

The SL must be shock Bill :)

I found out (after the event) that my son was on display at Crufts this year. Not as an owner or handler but in the RAF Police display. He was one of the uniformed RAF Police "securing" the arena floor as part of the demonstration.

I did see a couple of the Police dog displays, but not the RAF one.

Security was VERY tight, especially on the Sunday evening. The latter part of the day goes out live on TV which makes it a prime target. They were searching all the seating areas of the arena with sniffer dogs while we were building my finals course at 4PM.
