Cruise control on a W202

Hi,
Regarding the steering wheel removal, ensure you get the correct size torx bit for the air bag as a T25 fits loose, a T27 (strange size) is the correct size and it needs to be long enough to reach the torx head, but not to long that it fouls with the dash. Make sure you don,t turn the ignition on whilst airbag is disconnected.
As far as the stalk is concerned I will measure my C43 when I get home but I,d be surprised if it was more than 30mmish.

Cheers for that mate, i'll check the T27 torx bit is in my toolbox before starting. Unfortunately all of my driving this week involves corners, so i'll need to put it all back together again afterwards!

I'm hoping its a pretty straight forward job, but will soon find out!

Hi,
I measured the distance between indicator stalk and cruise control stalk, it is 55mm centre to centre (so much for my estimate) at the column shroud.
I live about 3-4 miles from Merc-man, as you are from Southampton you are more than welcome to come round and take pics and measure to your hearts content. PM me if you want.
What sort of clamping arrangement has the cruise stalk got?

Thanks for getting those for me mate, much appreciated! I'm not too sure, but it looks like there is a small rod in the column, as the stalk has a hole in it. Looks like it slots onto this

It's getting the wheel/airbag off that's my main concern! If i can do this easily enough then it shouldnt be too bad a job. Will have a go this eve, but I didnt have T27 so had to make a trip to halfrauds last night.

Cheers for the heads up on that tho, would've been stuck otherwise!

I'm just off the Avenue, so not far from Mercman either.

Anyone know where the connector goes for the cruise control? Got it fitted and STAR'd but me and Olly couldnt find where it actually connects to. Assume it's under the steering column somewhere??

If someone can let me know i'll go plug it in and see if it works

Sorry guys, but i still cant find where this plugs into! Anyone removed/fitted cruise control and remember where abouts to look to plug it in? I cant find it in the footwell area, so thinking it might be behind the steering wheel?

I think you're probably going to need a harness.

Hi,
I have,nt as yet taken down the steering column shroud of my AMG to see where the stalk plugs into for you (I have,nt forgotten) but has your CC stalk a lead of off it? or just a socket on the stalk?
I,m at my G/F's in Essex at the moment but if you PM me your full chassis number I,ll have a look on the EPC for you, but as Dieselman says it looks like you may have to buy an additional loom. But I suspect the main control unit you,ll already have as it would be possibly utilised for other car systems.

The stalk has a cable coming out of it, ends in a small 8 pin block (if i remember correctly?!). It only reaches half way down the steering column tho, so it looks like the connector's close to the back of the cluster, or I need more cables!

I'll PM you my chassis number if you wouldnt mind checking up for me mate, or let me know how to go about it myself and i'll save you the trouble
