Date/time not on system menu

I have a 2006 eclass w211
I can't change the date and time on the system menu and on the command menu I can only change the time in 30 minute increments.
Also since a recent service the sat nav has no idea where I am (10 miles out of more!)
I have no way of disconnecting the GPS from the head unit
Any advice would be great thank you

The GPS signal contains date/time so generally cars with COMAND are updated automatically from this, hence you can't change it manually. The 30 minute offset is presumably to allow for daylight saving time etc. if necessary. That's how it worked in our 2007 C Class with COMMAND, anyway!

There will be a connection from the GPS antenna (often somewhere under the dash) to the COMAND unit - could this have been disturbed on your car?

Strangely I have changed the time on the head unit frequently when crossing the channel to/from Europe but for some reason it won't let me change it now. I can't see any reason for the antenna to be disconnected as I've just had some suspension changed and new brake hoses. The garden said the battery went flat while it was with them for a few weeks but otherwise nothing was touched electrically wise. I'm stumped.

I'd hazard a guess that power-cycling if the COMAND unit due to the battery failure is what messed it up? That, or perhaps the way they (possibly) jump-started the car after the battery failure?

Do you think that jump starting the car could cause the problem? Today I disconnected both the main and secondary batteries for a couple of hours to give the system a fresh start but it made no difference to anything

Jump starting a car can, in some circumstances, cause damage to electric components. But we don't know what was done to car, and so it's a longshot. More likely the flat battery messed up something that needs to be reset, but I don't know what.

Command on 05 CLK use to change automatically, stopped doing that a few years ago.
I just remember it's an hour slow.

Works exactly the same on my 2010 E class too. Half hour jumps to alow for different zones.....the time setting itself all happens automatically via the GPS. However I have noticed that if I don't drive it for a while (say a week plus) the hands stop moving on the analogue clock (the digital one on the Command screen stays correct).....and then when I start the car the hands whizz round to the correct time. Im guessing some sort of battery saving feature....although I cant imagine a clock pulls any measurable amount of electricity!!!!
