i know my cl600 has a electronic limiter to 155mph, is it an easy job to delimit it and where could i have it done, also what top speed are these supposedly good for

My first guess would be a session on a STAR machine? My second guess is approx 185mph?

STAR is the diagnostic system used to code options, modules and erm, diagnose faults :)

Every dealer has one and quite a few independants. Unfortunately the depth of knowledge required to do some of the more complex coding is not that common. Dealers are generally very reluctant (= refuse) to 'tinker' with official settings

I can tell you're a right old speed freak, right?

yep i love speed, only reserved for runways though;) will be doing some top speed runs with her once the limiter has gone, have so far got to 193mph (gprs) in the supra i modified, was kinda hoping i could crack the 200mph with a few mods to this, but will have to do a heck of a lot more research yet

A good mercedes re-mapper is a company called advanced auto technique in slough berkshire. There bmw and mercedes specialists, and i had my c32 amg custom re-map and de-restricted, and that was a year ago, and shes driving better then ever!!

Yes only a Custom map will de limiter !

There are several way in wich to do this .... but its fairly straight forward to do ....

If you need any adivice give us a call or and Email ... Details www.*********.co.uk
The DE-Limit can be carried out as a mobile service .

Didn't Maff own a CL65 ? what did that Vmax at?

Maff had a CL65 mapped by DMS to 700bhp ...

VMax at Bruntingthorpe was 192 mph , Matt did crack the double ton on an autobahn , but needed several miles to do it ...

Doubt a standard CL600 would crack 200 ...

This is well within range you could see more .... With some aded extras

Seem to remember he had some problems with reliability though ... turbo(s) went??

I agree that a standard CL600 is very unlikely to reach 200 mph.

Serious speed freaks on here! Was it not better to get an actual sports car for this? SL63/CL63? Thought the CL63 was the most powerful production car available? Wouldn't this be an easier base to start from?

(I'm a big rookie at these things-so don't start swearing!)

The CL65 was for a brief time around 2004-ish... If I remember rightly

(Production car that is)

Yes, thats where I got it from.... good old top gear on Dave.
