200mph even in a remapped tunned up CL65 must take a long time past say 170....

If he did that on an autobarn thats some nerve also, as at those speeds even a slight bend seems tighter...

I've maxed my last car to 153 on the Gps and that felt very quick on an autobarn. I cannot imagine 200 mph.

From when I used to get max power..... sad I know *but was years ago) a lot of these highly tunned jap cars did have huge BHP figures (claimed) yet did seem to break down a fair bit....

Maybe take the wing mirrors off, tape over the gaps, lower it may eek out a few more mph :)

ive done 176 on the bahn with my c32 and thats with filters, map and de-restrited!!i will hit the 200mph at the end of the year, and mods are only gona be around £4000 including labour!!no problems!!

My dad's old 140 CL600 did 169mph on the GPS once de-restricted. This was on a long stretch of autobahn, we had read that it should touch 176mph once de-restricted but we just couldn't get any more out of her...

Well, then again the 140 CL600 is "only" 394bhp as opposed to the CL600 bi-turbo with 500bhp...

This is not very scientific (ie I have no data on frontal area and aerodynamics which have a HUGE effect at high speeds) but I believe a C43 (300-ish BHP) would get to somewhere not far north of 160 delimited).

Another 100bhp or so gets you 176 mph in a 140 CL600 - let's call it 180mph on a good day.

I would imagine the next 20mph would nee a LOT of additional power.

Don't the 190/200mph uber-saloons available today all have 550-600bhp? (I'm thinking RS6's, M5's, top-end AMG's)

We need to organise a run what you bring...

All this talk is nothing without fugures / timing gear etc

:)

If a 700BHP CL65 only just did 200 then I doubt 200 in a C32 will be easy? what mods do you have planed and what do you think with be the bhp after all these works.

HERE is Matts actual runs at Bruntingthorpe .... side by side with a RUF Turbo ..

if i am right in thinking the v12 bi turbo would be restricted by the autobox to get to 200mph, coming from a straight 6 single turbo supra to a cl 600 is a fair drop in acceleration but the cl does feel like it could handle big speeds in a straight line.
Although would not like to corner at speed though:crazy: but then it does wiegh in at over 2 ton though

That's why i quoted it , in case you deleted it :p

420bhp = 200mph?

In his defense he does say "to the floor" which means that he's accounting for loss through transmission and diff etc, meaning much more at the flywheel.

Anyhow, i strongly doubt claims of 200mph+ in a C32 personally...

for a start i wouldnt beworrying about the bhp, its all about torque figures, and 444 torque to the floor (not fly)would easily pull a c32 to 200 mph (with enough road)

I thought torque determined acceleration and bhp determined speed? :o
