Demountable towbar for e320 (W124) Estate

We're having trouble getting a replacement for the missing demountable section of the towbar on our '94 E320 estate. The ident. plate on the fixed section carries the following information:

TypOris: E240/1
Prufz~M: 4398
Werk Zul Stutzlast: 75 Kg
D.Wert: 11?1 Kn (third digit is unreadable)
Ausfg: B
Fur Kraftfahrezeuge Nach Besonderer Anbau Anweisung

Does any one know where we can get a replacement part from???
Tried Mercedes but they say it's too old for them to help with

Silly question, but you are 100% sure it's missing? E.g. the detachable towbar on my VW stores behind one of the interior panels in the boot area.

Otherwise you need to track down the original manufacturer, bit strange if M-B can't even tell you who to contact?!
