Was SLK55 2014, Audi A8
Does anyone have car in this colour? There's car for sale in this colour but my friends warned me about hassle with matt paint. I found some posts on mbworld.org forum but nothing from UK.

I consider it because it's rare and I like rare things. But if it's going to be huge hassle to keep it in good condition I may pass on it. Not sure about re-sale value in a few years as well. At the moment car seems to be cheaper than similar specced one in different colours.

I was speaking with a MB salesperson just last week and commented on a rather lovely looking A45 in a matt finish. His response was quite surprising, in that he didn't recommend the finish as it was near impossible to keep looking 'showroom'. Stone chip repairs are always glaringly obvious and scratches, even hand prints from inquisitive children were a real pain to remove...

After reading American forum I know M3 shield or some other protection would be required, especially since I like to drive fast and I remember how bad front of my SLK looked.

FWIW, when I was looking for another E63 I did manage to find an S model that had all the options I wanted on it and a few more beside, but it was in Designo Magno Cashmere White.

I read around on various (mainly American-centric) forums and the general consensus was that it's fine on a "garage queen", but a nightmare on a daily driver. I made enquiries of a couple of MB dealers who I trust and received pretty much the same info that whitenemesis did.

On that basis, and knowing that you do actually use your cars, I'd be inclined to give it a miss - as did I with the E63S.

Car has 4000 miles on the clock and it's almost 2 years old, so it was def. someone's garage queen.

I viewed the car on weekend. Paint didn't look bad but with 4500 miles on a clock it didn't see a lot of road action. No stone chips, no blemishes, but there was a scratch at the rear bumper. I don't think it could be easily fixed without repainting the whole panel.

If the car was perfect, I could consider wrapping it to keep it in good condition but with scratch already there, I'm not sure I would bother.

I gave it a pass, but if the price go down, I may reconsider it.

There was another car, same model, 3 years old with performance pack, solid white and it had plenty of stone chips. Someone drove it properly.

There's a link between those two statements ;)

I would suspect that used Magno paint cars either sit on the forecourt for a l-o-n-g t-i-m-e until either the price drops to the point where a wrap could be paid for, or the price is low enough to make the pain of ownership more bearable, or someone who hasn't done their homework comes along.

That's what I was counting on, after reading more about caring for this type of paint. It's low mileage car with some reasonable options. If it's much cheaper than other cars, it could be worth buying. It went down by £1000 in 3 days after it was advertised. I offered below asking price, got counter offer which is higher that I want to accept.

Trader is aware it's the cheapest car model/year on the market. We'll see. I'm in no rush. In the meantime I'm going to check out other cars/brands.
