Looking at getting the SL55 detailed. Have a couple of minor scratches on the bonnet and also stone chips on the front skirt under the front grills. I assume a detailer cant do anything about the stone chips but wondered if the minor scratches can be rectified. Would the best thing be to find the detailer and then get his advice? Any recommendations in Guildford area of Surrey?

Only one - stay away from Drive 'n Shine in Godstone. PM me an email address if you'd like my reason for that statement.

Thanks will bear that in mind. Have heard good things about divine detail but was hoping for someone closer.

Some detailers touch-up stone chips if you have the paint but many won't.

Scratches are a bit of a grey area, if you can feel them with your fingernail then they won't be able to be removed from the finish completely but as the edge of the scratch will be rounded off they will become less visible and in some lights disappear. Scratches you can't feel with your fingernail can almost always (depending on paint thickness) be removed completely.

Hope that helps.

Can you feel the scratches with your finger nail and how big are they?

MY CL is also on there. Highly recommended.

Your blue CL55 looks immaculate!

Michael did a great job.

No cant really feel the scratches so hopefully can be sorted by paint correction.

If you can't feel them, they should be definitely be sorted by a good Detailer. I've just done mine & took them all out even on the boot lid as well as various other places. The silver paintwork is quite good to work on.

I was trained by Tony Spears who is too far away from you but has a detailing network throughout the country. Google him by his name or pm me. Maybe you can give him a call & see if he can recommend someone near you before you actually cal the local guy on his network, if you get what I mean!?
