Diamond Alloys - not the best job

I had my alloys refurbed by Diamond Alloys about 9 months ago but last week I was fitting new tyres and they called me over and shown me how the paint is bubbling in the inside. there was also small paint chips inside the tyre. So perhaps not the best place to go to.
 
This is the thing with wheel refurbishment - only time will tell, if a good job.

Many places pay less attention to the barrels.
 
Agree T5R, had some wheels refurbed years ago, looked excellent, and after a few years the paint came in sheets.
It's the same with respray, cracks in paint after 5 years.
 
Wheels live in a very harsh environment, which is why no-one guarantees them even from new.

Powder coating is more durable for a daily.

Except that its so hard that its chip a bit too easily...especially during tyre changes..........had a set powdered once....I would not do it again.

Take them back and have them done again.

Did you speak to the company before calling them out on here? You may find they’ll be willing to sort. It’s not about the issue but about how they deal with it.
 
Hi , I thought that diamond cut alloy wheels was generally a British phonoma due to salt on the roads in winter.

Assuming that the Portuguese car I saw had not spent a couple of winters on salted British roads these alloy wheels had what the call the milky effect.

No kerb damage.
 
I had my wheels diamond cut with a painted insert.they lasted about 3 years,the problem is that when companies diamond cut the wheels on a lathe it leaves a edge and even though the inserts were painted dark grey the salty water gets under the lacquer,and so I had them stripped and painted gloss black looks good on a white car
 
The term '9 months' doesnt really tell us anything ? was the car sat in a temperature controlled garage for all of that time or was it being used , including all through the winter ? How many miles did the wheels cover during that time. ?

I must say 9 months does seem a bit of a short time , two of my (powder coated) refurbs have started to bubble a bit , but thats well over 2 years of almost daily use and the car lives outside and is driven in all weathers.

You have any photos to show us ?
 
Diamond cut wheels and UK weather just do not go together....made worse by clear lacquer not bonding to alloy like paint does. The tiniest chip or scratch and the water is in.
