Gents, got a diesel leak which appears to be comming from the black plastic part on the side of the engine near the front. This has some of the infamous clear plastic pipes sprouting from it, and a circular electrical connection in the side of it. I'm guessing that this is a fuel heater.
I did think that it was the o ring in the quick connector beneath it but that's ok removed pipe checked o ring visually and it seems fine.
So, anyone know it the fuel heater (if that's what it is) does sometimes develop a leak, and what's it like to replace financially and mechanically?
Thanks !

Hi

Are there 3 pipes coming from it? And 2no brass torx headed bolts/set screws holding it on?? If yes and yes then this is your fuel shut off switch. They can crack and leak fuel but it is likely that the "o" ring between it and the fuel pump is leaking, it could look ok but stretch it and you might see a crack in the o ring. Anyone of the 3 pipes going into it could be leaking at the o ring joints too.

Yess that part is as you describe it; I'll read up on the link you sent thanks !

Cheapest all round option is to replace the pipes and 'o' rings. These aren't expensive from the stealers and it is always a job well worth doing as the pipes do tend to lose their flexibility over time.

Hi

Yes you should find all the info you need if you follow the links, if you have any probs dont be afraid to ask, i have been there and done that as they say.:D

All sorted !

Thanks for the help; I've cured the leak by replacing the o ring that is fitted between the plastic fuel cut off and the pump. Really straight forward, my top tips for what they are worth is to remove the plastic undertray so the diesel drips straight down when you operate, and make sure the torx bits are properly seated before applying torque to them.
Just got to clean the cr*p out of the top of the undertray before replacing it!
