Diesel Oil Filter Removal

Hi
I just tried to change the oil filter on my 1999 W202 C class Diesel C250. I got the plastic threaded cap off and pulled it out with filter attached, but cannot seem to seperate the filter from the cap. Didn't want to force it off...anybody know how to remove it?

If its like mine you just pull it hard until it pops off. Don't forget to replace the O-rings, they're difficult to see and easy to forget.

Thanks, did not want to pull it hard, the plastic tube thing looked like it would break off. I will give it a hard pull as you suggest.
