Hi all,

I hope everyone is well.

I was browsing the internet and looking at different indie websites.

I was drawn to a news update on the 'Sapphire Autos' webpage.

Digital Service Book is here… | Mercedes Benz Servicing Specialists | Harrow

It says they now have access to the MB digital service book and can put their record of servicing onto it.

Is this really true? Would MB even consider comparing their service to an independent? (Even though they are the same in most cases, although one has an inflated price) Let alone grant them access?

This is good for the individual who uses independents.

Do most of the established independents now have access to DSB?

Kind Regards

Well I have just applied for Mercland, could be extremely useful if they authorise us, so thankyou for sharing.

Does this mean you will be able to add your service to the MB database? Thus meaning if MB search on their system your service will pop up and vice versa Or does it mean you have access to their records?

Finally, if a car was pre-2008 and serviced at an indy with DSB would it just go onto the MB database regardless if it didn't have a DSB from new?

Kind Regards

Hi guys, just to let you know I used sapphire auto as I have 2010 eclass. Yes they can do the dig service book and that is a fact. They can pull up all previous services carried out too and tell what the system says should be replaced. Great people , and they know what they are doing which makes a change.
Highly recommend them.

As regards to dsb at an Indy , you have too make sure they have the link, most don't yet as they don't want to pay. Hence you are limited. I choose an Indy this time as it was an A service and 97000 on a 20 month car( chauffeur ). Next service back to main. But they all are recorded on Mercedes national data base.
Good luck

So if you call up Merc, they will say your car had an 'A-service' at Sapphire Autos? Which system do Sapphire Autos have access to? There is a National service database and EVA.

The access is free it seems, however this looks like another one of those things that MB make as difficult as possible for us indies to get access to...
Im sure due to block exemption they had to offer access to the indies by law, but the red tape would put most off even trying.

It would be fantastic if we do get access as it will save us so much hassle.. however im not holding my breath.

Please keep us posted, whether or not you get access. I do not see any reason why not if Sapphire Autos has it (a relatively new indie). I would like to know if you are allowed to input your service and if MB recognise this on their system at their end. I can believe they will give you access to their records.

I would be surprised if they do, partly because the salesmen will not be able to say it doesn't have a full service history recognised by MB. Also, they would always think their service is of higher quality to reflect the shocking prices they charge. Lastly, if back dating is allowed, people will be claiming they have a full service history when they don't.

Hey, in answer to dokalj's question of whether MB dealer can see what we have updated....YES, they can see which indie has serviced the car, and exactly what was done. This information is uploaded into a system called the Digital Service Booklet, its neither their National Database or EVA, however it can be viewed by any MB dealer in the UK and abroad.

The Digital Service booklet just replaces the conventional maintenance booklet, and makes it easier for workshops to see what services have been done in the past.

Also, only those cars which have been set up to have a DSB by MB can be updated on the system, not pre-2008 cars.

Hope this helps.

Mercland now has access! Big thanks DokalJ!

However note that the system only works for cars which are on the digital service book as above.

My local indie keys mercedes bexleyheath mentioned this to me a few months ago as he was using it i just assumed most indies knew.

It turns out my local dealer had registered me for it but failed to tell me so all I needed was the password!

Hi Jay,

No worries, so will you be putting that in your updates page like sapphire autos?

Also, what do you have to do to gain access the DSB? Just pay the subscription for WIS? Or do you have to meet certain guidlines in your work?

I think you have to be a registered business and have a good reason for needing access.. I think the process is smoother if you have an account with the local dealer.

We have also signed up for this, as above you need to prove the company exists and has a relationship of some kind with MBUK.

I expect to be asked to have a look at the records for people.
This will not be possible, as we are obliged to only use access for the purpose of recording or facilitating vehicle servicing on vehicles in our care.
