Ok....so I've worked out that I have font and rear dolphin parking sensors installed...trouble is the front one is driving me mad as it keeps beeping!

There's a switch on the right hand side of the unit which I was hoping would turn it off and on but it seems to do nothing!

Any idea how I can turn the front sensors off? I've looked online for an instruction manual but can't find anything.

I think the front sensors are only activated when going less than 5mph or so which makes me think they are CAN BUS wired or similar? I'm looking to fit a switch to disable them as in slow moving traffic they beep all the time.

Any idea how I can fit the switch/ disable the CAN BUS connection?

ah ha - another thread! - I think you have the same ones as me - aftermarket MB ones - are they made by Dolphin? - i see the little switch on the right hand side - like a little electronic DIP switch? - what does it do? _ i mean to test it but have headed off for the weekend on the wifes car!

The def work above 5mph btw - they go off at 20mph+ on single-track lanes - I live on a farm and have to use one every day - they drive me mental! especially as the hedge rows grow in and they get pretty close!

I started a new thread as I worked out what my sensors were...I haven't managed to work out what that switch does yet!? I've emailed dolphin and asked how I can turn them off....will let you know if they get back to me.

gkerr4 - apparently the switch on the front unit will mute the sensors. For some reason this doesn't work on mine, does it work on yours?

no - it doesn't seem to make a monkeys difference!

Has no-one got a manual for these things? - the website isn't much use either (the dolphin one I mean)

Front aftermarket sensors are usually activated by a couple of different ways depending on the manufacturer of the sensor kit and the way it has been installed. If a dealer fitted them I doubt they would be Dolphin. Most tend to use Steelmate or Laserline if they are flush mounted / recessed sensors.

CAN-BUS - they go on when the vehicle is under a certain speed ~ 5mph like OEM sensors
Manually- by a switch normally mounted near the steering wheel in easy reach of the driver
Brake - activate automatically when the brake pedal is pressed

i've now got a manual for the dolphin sensors...doesn;t seem to help much but it seems that mine arn't dolphin they are Steelmate. Are yours definitely dolphin?

Welcome To The World Of Steelmate - Front And Rear Parking Sensors

When I hit 30 posts I'll be able to receive PM's...if you Pm me your email address I can forward you a copy of th eDolphin manual.

ah - they could indeed be steel-mate - it's difficult to tell, but the front display looks a bit like the front display listed for the PTS400MF (front only section) display - it has a circular thing on the left, top of the display unit and the little switch on the right hand side of the display body.

Circular thing is the speaker. So sounds like you have Steelmate too and they are as standard activated by the brake pedal.
