Does this air filter look relatively new?

Another thread on this forum got me curious. So I decided to check my air filter

2012 c-class c220 diesel.

It was replaced 4 months ago and done 2000 miles since change.

Mileage on car is 41k when air filter replaced 4 months ago.

These pictures are this week (4 months since change)

Edit..
It's probably just me being paranoid. It certainly doesn't look like it's done 30k miles and 2 years old (last service date 2014)

You could have marked it somewhere, then checked after the service, might be a good idea to mark your serviceable bits prior to having it done next time then you will know.
I usually put little marks on various bits of mine so I can check if things are actually done.

Back in the 1960's and 70's my dad worked on the bench as a motor fitter.

It was commonplace for suspicious customers to mark things like wheel nuts, rocker cover and air filter retainers etc. All the guys in the workshop, including may dad, used to take great care to line up all the marks again as they completed the service :D

Sigh.

Not only are filters there to get dirty, they work better when they are dirty. Well at least they do up to a point. As long as the pressure drop is not excessive they filter more efficiently.

This suggests prematurely changing a filter whether air or oil is not a good thing to do.

That's been changed, it looks fairly new to me. It certainly hasn't done 40k.

It's a sad state of play when we pay an extortionate amount to have things done and there's a lack of trust between dealer and customer. It hardly creates the feeling of reassurance that should go with paying a 'premium' price. The problem is, once bitten, twice shy, and too many of us have had poor experiences in the past (in fairness, not necessarily with MB).

Thanks everyone....I can sleep easy. Lol
