MB CL600 (2000)
I being quoted just shy of £2000 to have part hydraulic pipe 2203205672 as stated it has bursting my 2000 Plate CL600. Independent Mercedes Specialist SPR Autos - Stockport. Please see attached.
REMOVE ANGINE AND GEAR BOX TO FIT ABC CONTOL PIPE - 20 hours x £55 = £1100
2203205672 LINE - 1x £495
ABC FLUID - 10 x £10 = £90
Questions are how can this pipe burst? Should this part need then engine gearbox to be removed? Being told may needed? Surely this should be defined in a repair manual and part price seems excessive at £495? This is not far half the value of the car and not sure if to just sell as is?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Many thanks

I have done this pipe a few times. No need to remove engine, just exhaust and gearbox.

Its an **** of a job TBH. I expect they don't want to do it hence the high price.

Well, based on their sums where 10 x 10 = 90, they might actually be undercharging you :D

And possibly +vat??

Because Mercedes don't know what they are doing with hydraulic systems and no-one bothers to service the system once in use.

Almost certainly all the accumulators are flat or ruptured which leads to massive pressure spikes causing the pipe to rupture or burst if it is a corroded steel part.

I think that pipe contains a new accumulator, but not the other spheres.

Had a good word with the Service Manager at official Mercedes Benz - Central Manchester who is quoting 6.5 hours for work. He has stated they can take the engine off the mounts, lift up and angle gearbox to fit. So, a lot better news.
