Domain Parking Question

This and that.
OK, I'm not selling anything here ;) ...

I've listed some domains I have for sale and the site I've used suggests I park them there. They say I should use 'Name Server Forwarding', to the following:

Primary Server Name: XY1.NOTHINGTOSEEHERE.COM (123.456.78.90)
Primary Server Name: XY2.NOTHINGTOSEEHERE.COM (123.456.78.91)

The admin section with my current host for one of the domains shows settings at the moment are:
2cfe99z.jpg

So do I change the above 'A' record type to the 123.456.78.90 and the 'CNAME' to the XY1.NOTHINGTOSEEHERE.COM, and leave the MX records alone?

TIA

If you are wanting to change the diestination address - then YES you need to enter the HOSTNAME into the 'CNAME' (Canonical Name) record type and the IP Address into the 'A' record type.

You should be able leave the Mail Exchange (MX) records as are.

Hope this helps...

Not sure really... I don't know if I want to change the destination address or not, because I don't understand what it means. I just want to park the domains with a new host.

When you say park - are you referring to them being hosted and redirected to a blank page?

Personally, I use UK2.Net its it simple and cheap... let them do the hosting, and DNS resolution everything, and just divert the domains to whereever you want it...

That's what I do; I have domains parked at Sedo.com and the DNS is unchanged at 123-reg, simply forwards to Sedo's parking page for the domain. Easy to setup and no messing with DNS.

I want to park mine at Sedo, because that's where they are listed for sale. They're currently parked at Active24.

I'm just trying to understand the non-luddite instructions as to how to change to Sedo.

That's URL forwarding is it? I'm not sure Active24 allow that. How would I know?

Yep, web-forwarding. Be surprised if Active24 don't allow that. Just checked, and this indicates that they do it, although bizarrely, you have to request it. If they charge for it, it's time to move to another registrar.

I have mine setup as framed forwarding, to: http://www.sedoparking.com/domain-name.co.uk

That's it :)

BTW Do you have an account with sedo setup?

Yes, I have an account with Sedo, because I've just this morning listed the domains I'm selling. To do any kind of active marketing, they want my domains parked with them.

Thanks for your help.

PJ
