Hi all
The drivers door mirror on our W210 has got a big area of shadowing on it. I believe that it is dimming type, I am imagining that some sort of chemical reacts to direct light and causes the shadowing effect to cut down glare. Anyway the mirror has this shading and looks awful and as a result I want to change it. Can one get just the glass part or do I need to change the entire thing? I just bought one from Ebay but it is as bad as the one we have so it is going back.... I would be grateful of any advice please :)
TIA

Keith

A new one costs £100s. You can remove the outer glass, revealing a mirror behind. You lose the dimming function, but it works well for seeing behind you.

I your mirror actually a dimming mirror or a non-dimming mirror that is tarnishing, if tarnishing the mirror may be Black/Deep Purple colour around the edges.

Below is a dimming mirror.

My mirror is just like his one. Thanks for the link, it looks as though the best option is to get a new heated mirror from Ebay and fit it...
Many thanks

Keith

Try and get the eBay supplier to provide the 2 pin plug with a couple of inches of wire tails that goes with a non-dimming mirror as your existing electrical connection plug will be different as it will have 4 wires.

Drivers side mirrors should be dimming on Avantgarde models.
