Don’t know if this is the right section to post this but thought that I would share my experience of being fortunate enough to drive a Bentley Continental GT yesterday evening. It is my Dad’s cousin’s car and his had it since mid June.

All I can say is that it is a truly amazing car and an experience I will never forget. I drove it hard at times (where able to do so) and it just effortlessly accelerated away and had the pleasure of having a bit of fun with a W209 CLK 55 AMG Cab and showed it who was boss  No one else wanted to “play” with me…;)

Interior is beautiful (felt solid) in addition to the exterior styling and when actually behind the wheel the car does not feel as big as it looks on the outside. People were actually stopping in the middle of traffic just to look at the car (thats just how much of a road presence it has…) and I have never experienced anything like that before driving any car. My only dislike of the car was the big LED rear brake light that is on top of the rear screen...:p

Good news is that he is away next month and shall be leaving the car in my custody…

bring it down to my place and we'll go cruisin' :D (shame they dont do a diesel :) )

Got some on my mobile phone but need to get a cable to transfer on to PC or when I get the car next month I shall take proper pics with a digital camera and post them...:) (I not even got pics of my current W203 in the gallery yet as am lazy :o ).

Nice cars, don't mind the brake light so much but I'm not a fan of the VW Phaeton / Touareg steering wheel (and other switchgear). Surely this should be more bespoke?

It seems a curse for all car manufacturers - switchgear. It is expensive to develop and therefore seems to be the item most readily carried forward from one car to another.

There are just short of 100 buttons in the Conti GT cabin, very few are duplicates. That's a lot of tooling.

Even the new Azure, at nearly twice the cost of the Conti GT, uses BMW buttons mixed with traditional Bentley switches.

It is compulsory that you attend as many GTGs as possible during August!! :bannana: WITH the Bentley.

What football club does he play for ;)

One of our neighbours had one but soon goit rid of it and bought a CL600. I just thought the Bentley was so small, that is of course relatively speaking. I always associate Bentleys as being on the large size! (as opposed to the dark side ;) )

Next door but one has just bought a new Flying Spur, not made up my mind about it yet though.

Take care,
John

Have you noticed I have not mentioned my daughter? (don't even think about it)

Sounds like a plan...

My brother in law has a conti GT and has had all sorts of problems with the electrics, alarms going off, lights on dash comming on for no reason. I think it's been in the dealers more than in his drive "heap of Junk" and a few expletives is how he describes it!
