Renewed my Road Tax on-line on Sunday afternoon.

I am now holding the new tax disk

Well done DVLA and Post Office

new tax disc...

whats that to go on anything nice?

You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment.

C280 just been MOTd and serviced and the tax runs out the same time.

Had to have 2 new tyres for MOT as well. Ouch!

Its when human intervention is required that the DVLA show their incompetence.

I was never a great fan of the DVLA, but a couple of years ago we sent our tax disc back for a refund when we SORN'ed hubby's van. They refused the refund because they said we hadn't SORN'ed it. We were gutted as we really needed the money at the time (no van = no work).

I sent them a letter saying that we SORN'ed it by phone before we sent the tax disc back and would they please re-consider as it was a lot of money for us to lose and they replied with a nice letter and a cheque for the full refund. :thumb:

a recent story of DVLA unintended consequences.

purchased an old car earlier in the year which had over a month current tax disc on it.

Went to renew tax disc online and was forced to pay from the previous month because car was deemed to have NIL valid tax disc, AND I might be pursued.

On contacting the DVLA it seems the previous owner had sorned the car just prior to me buying it from him and the DVLA computer changed the car records to NIL tax disc, even though the car had a current disc valid for another month and which was included in the car sale to me.

(The previous owner had sorned the car because he changed his insurance over to his new car).

I have to write to DVLA to get them to issue me with a new tax disc extended for a further month, which their website robbed me of.
