e 220 transmission problem

v reg tip tronic went out this morning after not using the car for about 2 weeks left home and noticed that on drive it seemed to be on 1st gear put it on p and gear lever got stuckon p could not move car phoned rac and came over and released gear with a pen inserted in the side of the gear liver drove off and the tip tronic was not working and the engine seemed to be in low gear still, noticing that the display in the dash was not showing anything on what gear i was. left the car parked at a friends, 2 hours later went in the car and everything was back to normal any ideas what could have been or what it is

Sounds Like A Can Communication Fault With The Gear Selector Module (gsm) Hence No Display In Cluster And Stuck In Emergency Mode ,suggest You Get Your Fault Codes Read With A Pro
