My Saloon has always been to a Stealership before but as I do my own spanners on my Landcruiser and my bikes, I though I'd change the oil.

so, I've found the sump plug and drained the oil out and I know where the filler cap is too! But can I find the oil filter? I imagine that it is hidden somewhere as the replacement is a paper one that needs to be dropped into something.

Can someone tell me where it is please?

Thanks

FT

Hi FT and welcome to the forums :)

Your question might have got more response in the Engine section, and you don't say what year your model is - but I'll take an educated guess that it is a mid-late 90s?!? (W210?). You will probably find that the oil filter cartridge is located inside a housing which is covered by a black plastic cap. This tends to be towards the RHS of the engine at the front, and Mercedes do a proper tool to remove this (not overly expensive) and then you can change the filter and 'o' ring very easily :)

If your model is different then ignore this, but it's the best I can offer at present ;)

Good luck,

Will

Mix up on the posts here. Last time I looked, there were zero responses. thanks for the advice - you were bang on.

Car is a E280, 2000 model. Which MB variant that is, I don't know.

Using Rock Oil Syntheses 4 and it runs as sweet as a nut! What do you recommend for filters? I got a coopers from the local motorfactors which is made of paper. The one the came off it - original Mercedes - was metal.

Thanks.

Use genuine parts, they're often cheaper than aftermarket anyway.
