Car
E 280
Hi all,

Hope you are all well.

I have recently inherited a V reg E 280 avantgarde.
However the car has been sitting for over 5 years now. The car is not worth a lot to anyone except me, extreme sentimental value! I know the battery is dead and the fuel is most likely gone off! The car was working when it was initially parked up. I am now looking at getting the car up and running again. I want to use it as my wedding car to pay tribute to my dad. (I know that sounds cheesy but he loved that car and by me using his car it will be like he is there with me on my big day) getting married in September 2015

My question is can anyone recommend a good garage in the East Midlands area, that can help bring the car back to life? I cannot afford the dealer prices at the moment as paying for a wedding is frightfully expensive!
Any help you can provide me would be much appreciated!

If you need any more information or know of a decent garage please please let me know!

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Sorry to pester you forum members, but does anyone know of a decent garage in the East Midlands that could help me restore my E280 (W210)?

Thanks,
Remaz

Lovely story about the car and your wedding.

I'm sure people will turn up that have good recommendations for garages, but...

Have you tried fresh fuel, a new battery, checking the oil and fluids levels, then starting it?

If it starts, just run it up to temperature, give it a gentle drive, be gentle with the brakes while they wear a surface again, then you'll know what's what... Right now all is a bit unknown.

If it starts and runs, just give it a service, fresh oil, new tyres probably as yours will have likely been sat at low pressure which causes cracks, etc...

You could do a bit each weekend in restoring bodywork, moping, polishing, etc restoring wheels, and it'll add to the occasion that you've done the work IMO.
