E class ipod ...weird problem

Hi all

Picked up a 2009 model year e350 with media interface option

Plugged my pod in and the music plays fine but the typical iPod selection options....eg playlists, genre etc are not there..just show folders with random letters etc....there is no way to navigate to a song or playlist etc.

Any help,appreciated....

If you have media interface you have a media interface connector and a three cable set that connects to the media interface connector, aux, USB and ipod cables. Is that what you have are you are using the media interface ipod cable?

See if you can try another ipod. Normally people have this issue when they try to connect an ipod to the standard usb port, thinking they have media interface when they dont.

Ive tried:-
1. formatting and restoring my ipod
2. Tried an Iphone 3GS, and Iphone 4S
3. Tried an Ipod 4th Gen - 8gb

None seem to work.

One thing Ive noticed...even tho the ipod cable is being used from the Media interface into the Ipod, the Comand reports it as a USB device...?

Very frustrating ........

yes - the cables match the codes in the previous thread....HAs the dealer given me the wrong ones?

Which part numbers do I need then?

Check with Comand Online. It is possible you need these: Media Interface cable set for A/B/C/CLS/E/GLK/SL/SLK | Mercedes iPod solutions | Mercedes Retrofits | Comand Online Ltd but I am prety sure they are for 2009 W211 with NTG2.5 units and media interface. Not sure if they apply to W212 with NTG4 but as your cars a 2009 they possibly could.

The newer cables which is what you currently have dont have right angled connectors like the older ones above/

Thanks for the suggestion. Went into Mercedes today and tried an alternative cable - BINGO !!!

#40 quid for the benefit tho !!!!

Why didnt you just get them to swap the set if they supplied the wrong set with the car?

Bought the car from one dealer and had to use another dealer close to home to get the cable

Hopefully gonna get the supplying dealer to cover the cost though
