Can a third seat belt be fitted to the back seating area of a E220 Coupe, 1994 (middle lap type presumably)

There is no middle seat in a coupe? just a bit of removable padding between the seats. There are seatbelt anchorage plates on on either side of the transmission tunnel for the existing belts which might be modified for child seat restraints but new anchorage plates would probably be required for any upper restraints. A lightly loaded child seat might be OK in the centre but the layout is simply not practical for an adult Lap and diagonal seatbelt system IMHO. Your MB dealer would probably be able to tell you if a fitting kit exists for a central child seat but I doubt that such a thing exists?

And if one did the size of the child seat would render both of the other seats unusable for anything other than very thin people.
The existing belts are only just long enough to fit a rear facing child seat, you have to lean the top of the child seat rearwards to make them reach over and move the passenger/driver seat quite a ways forward.
Having sat on the middle cushion for a short while I can tell you it is a very uncomfortable on your buttocks!
