E240 engine stopped when hot

hi everyone i'm new to this
I have a E240 1999 model 75k miles the other night it cut out and would not refire by the time the resuse company turned up about 40 mins it started again i drove it home and started a number of times then it done it once more i took it to have plugged in and checked and come back with no faults i've started it a number times since and started ok but not got it running to hot. I've been told it most likley to be the crankshaft sensor?
I got a new sensor today can anyone help with this? 1, does that sound like the fault and 2 can anyone tell me where the sensor is located. Any help would be great.

Yes, sounds like CPS. Sorry, can't help with location.

Tt is on the right side of the bell housing acessable from the top under the bonnet.
