E240 Needs Throttle body service?

I have been offered a 240 1999 avantgarde here in ireland
It all looks good but needs a "throttle body sevice and new plugs and leads"
according to the seller
i have no idea if this is serious, exspensive or a big problem
he is asking 1400 euro

need to make a decision Advice please!!!!

I guess that will be the seller's excuse for poor running/misfiring?

If so, get him to fix it, show you it running properly and then buy it.

Otherwise you are taking the risk that it needs (for example) a NEW throttle body and maybe coils etc - who knows without proper diagnosis - may be lots of Euros!

I am always suspicious when a seller say is "just needs x" - if it did, why not fix "x" and ask more money for a properly running car?
