E270cdi Warning Lights - no power steering

Hi Guys

Excellent forum hope you guys can help me!

I have a W211 E270 CDI 2002, I unfortunatly bought a pup that had alot of problems. The car had water in the ECU & SAM unit and everything got pretty fried. I had the car taken to MB but they quoted me 4500 pounds to get it fixed.

With no knoledge of cars I decided to fix the problem my self or at least give it a go

I took my ECU to a boosh dealer who transfered all the data to a new ECU, i then also purchased a SAM unit from ebay for 70 pounds.

I have fitted both of these and to my utter amazment the car started first time.

However I have the following problems and warning lights?

A red battery symbol - take to workshop

Lost Power steering

Electric consumer turned off (warning light)

Braking is harder than normal

SRS (warning light)

EPS (warning light)

The interior lights no longer work

The radio & satnav unit will not work

The car however actually drives fine.

I have read a few forums and am not sure if the above problems are all connected. I have read that if there is a battery problem then things like heated seats ect will not work to preserve power. Do I need to get the cars electrics reset or maybe I still have another problem with the main battery control unit or the aux battery, this is all stuff I have read, I no very little about cars.

Also, does anybody know what the part number is for the cover, that covers the SAM unit & ecu on the left hand side of the engine bay, I cant seem to get one anywhere, what is the correct name for this cover?

Does anybody know what port 10 & 12 are used for on the SAM (front)unit as I had great difficulty getting this connector back in......2 pin plug green and brown wire.

Any help or ideas would be helpfull.

Is the fan belt present? Can see the SAM affecting the electrics, but not the PAS..

Yes I spoke with Darren a few weeks back, the problem was actually getting the car to him. The cars steering lock was fully on and the car was in a very tight parking spot.

Also everybody that I have spoken to has told me that it was not possible for me to duplicate my cars ECU, well I am please to tell you it did work and I will post the companys details on here as I think they did a great job.

BLACKC55 - are you the guy I phoned from the garage, you where going in for an op? - if so I can bring the car down, just dont want to take it to MB!

Could your car have Parameter Steering ?
This is worked by the ESP / BAS control unit , has the car any faults showing for these functions , if so than these could be linked

Sometimes flashes up BAS but no since i fitted the new ECU. What is the BAS?

BAS , thats brake assist .
Have you also checked the power steering fluid , could water have gotten in and contaminated the fluid
