E300-W210, Dash Mid. range speakres?

Took off the dash cover of the mid. range speakers today as I suspected there was no driver there, there wasn't.
Phoned MB Blackpool, they said there about £16 each and also said they should be in! Knock out bit was in place.
I had a good look for the wiring but space is tight in that aperture, couldn't see any wiring.
Question is should the wiring be there?

Cant comment on mercedes but i know that in previous cars ive had the wiring has always been in place behind the knock out bit. Seems manufacturers put all the wiring for everything in place then put the final part (speaker) as an added extra!

The wiring definitely wasn't there on my '51 e320cdi.

But the speakers from the OEM MB car kits fitted in there perfectly!

IIRC you only got speakers there if you went for the premium sound system option as that consisted of 3 way components up front although I may be wrong.
