Just bought a E320 CDI 2000 very slow performance, Took off turbo at weekend and checked wastgate and vacume lines. Turbo (garrett) looks fine and wategate & actuator works OK.

Air Mass meter has been replaced by the garage in UK, car is now in Ireland.
Had the codes read in another garage here and there was a code for the air mass meter and intake or inlet valve???? got the guy to clear the codes and went for a drive (still no power) came back and read the codes again now only showing intake or inlet valve???? code. Any ideas anybody...Have car booked in with this garage in two weeks time...

There is a Inlet Port Shutoff Motor mounted right undereath the intake manifold. Either it is not working or the operation arm, connected to the motor, has dislodged itself to the inlet shutoff valves that are venturies located inside every intake runner for each cylinder. This would cause the car to go into limp home and very low on power.

Good Luck,

Asif.

Hi Asif...Yes I read your previous post on that and took that off yesterday, it seems to work and motor spins and all arms are connected....have just read about you EGR problem and am going to take that off and clean it today...
No power difference with the MAF unplugged.... kick down dose not work either..... waste gate on turbo cycles on cold startup but dose not move after that can't hear turbo, will spin up if I manually force the waste gate shut and rev engine, had turbo and waste gate apart looks fine.... The only code that came back after the codes were cleared was to do with the inlet port shut off motor, this was a bit stiff had it off today and freed it up, it moves very slightly once or twice then no more movement ...... Many thanks for your help....

I have taken out the EGR today and as you said the hole was about 50% smaller...cleaned it out and put it back, I did not take out hr entire inlet manifold only the EGR unit....still the same no difference in speed. slow as a dog

Am I getting it right, you are still getting codes about you Inlet Port Shutoff Motor??? If yes, then that would be the part that you need to look at and observe. Cleaning it liberally with a solvent may help but if you still have problems with it, then you are looking at replacement but please be advised, it is utmost necessary that the diagnosis be proper in order to avoid expensive replacements and the problem still being there. Also contact Dieselman since he is extremely helpful in these vehicles.

Regards,

Asif.

Yes that is correct once the code is cleared the Inlet Port Shutoff Motor code comes back.....I have ordered one today, had it apart and the linkage was ok the motor spins up but dose not do much else....Do you know if the codes have to be reset again for the car to stop being in Limp Mode? or will it sort itself out? Many thanks once again

As far as I can tell you, I think the car would sort itself out once the part is replaced. But then again, this can be case dependent as many other things with these cars.

Good Luck,

Asif.

E320 All sorted ......

All sorted ......:bannana: replaced the inlet servo valve (as indicated by the codes) and have full power...also replaced the turbo pressure sensor as it was full of gunk when I cleaning out the EFG unit....Got codes cleared went for a drive and all codes now clear.....
Many Thanks for all your help

Tony

Could you kindly tell me where the Turbo Pressure sensor is located on your vehicle please. Part number and price would most definately help.

Thanks,

Asif.
