e320 cdi 2007 turbo keeps going into limp mode...

just trying to get to the bottom of a friend issue. his E 320 cdi 2007 keep going into limp mode. The car has been back to mercedes , under warrenty, and been checked. They first changed the oxyagen sensor, still happeneing. on the second visit he was informed that it was some motor on the turbo? or a oil seal that was letting by? both not covered by his warrenty and estimated £550+ to do the job!! when the car goes into limp mode there are no other warning light illuninated on the dash?
just wondered if anyone else could shed any light on this or if they had a simular issue.

well its either the inlet manifold motor which is usually around £500 + vat all in or its the turbo which is more than double that using OEM parts from aftermarket suppliers such as Euro Car Parts.
The two faults will bring up different codes so he needs to know which one is coming up.
