E320 cdi (s211 V6)

To be honest, I'm not sure if it was sticky by hand as I didn't want to force anything on the electronic actuator as it was rebuilt by ecu testing a year or so ago. All the symptoms and fault codes now point to the turbo as others have experienced, however !!, if i'm talking out my erse and it proves not to be I shall still post up so others can learn...

James from TD asked various questions about what was happening especially whether the car was hot or cold (hot only) and only in the lower gears. Have sent the whole lot including the actuator so time shall tell.

Disconnect rod from actuator before you try . But obviously it's sent know so good luck and post outcome.

UPDATE on Turbo and Judder

Hello all,

As promised, an update post turbo rebuild. Matters didn't exactly get off to a spiffing start what with the turbo arriving at Turbo Dynamics with the actuator "smashed to smithereens" and unrepairable.....There was also a bash to the turbo (cold side) itself so some-one had been having a bad day at the couriers:fail

Tom from T/D was very helpful however and said he'd look after me as it was their chosen courier that I'd used..

News came back that the VNT was indeed very coked up and quite probably sticking, unfortunately the actuator was too badly smashed to test.

Turbo was cleaned, re-built with new bearing and seals and then flow tested. A new actuator was fitted and all returned to me for the total price of £336 inc vat and both deliveries which seemed more than reasonable.

Got it all fitted few days ago and have been trying to recreate the original fault but so far so good!!:thumb:

Need to get some real miles on it to really be confident that all is solved and will post back any news.

Cheers

Very glad to hear your problem seems to be sorted just a real shame about the actuator as we'll never know if that was the issue or not as it's since been replaced please keep us updated with your progress and if you could please share the fault codes which pointed you to a turbo rebuild, thanks for updating us

Not a bad price that at all

Kenny now that you have a few miles under your belt has the issue return? Does the car drive any better than before ie. More pull etc

Hi All,

We update. Car has now done well over 1000 miles (and an MOT) since all this began and it has not missed a beat. No stuttering, mpg maybe slightly better and it will spin up the rears in 2nd again if you ask! It's that sort of moment when you think, oh yes, this is how this used to drive.....

For the money for the rebuilt turbo I really can't complain, just wish I'd started with that in the first place!!!
